Congressman Roger Williams

Representing the 25th District of Texas

Defense and National Security

Under the Constitution, the most important role of the federal government is to provide for the national defense. America’s values of freedom and liberty are under constant attack by hostile people whose ideology consists of hate, murder, and radical Islamic extremism. Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, we have relied on the men and women of our armed forces to prevent our nation from further attack and to destroy terrorist networks. With this vital need for military readiness, Congress and the President must ensure sufficient funding in order to increase our military strength and protect our men and women in harm’s way. Our troops must be fully equipped, trained and prepared for war.

We must protect our interests not just at home and in the Middle East, but in other parts of the world with growing unrest – places like Israel, Russia, Ukraine, and North Korea.

Texas’ 25th Congressional District is home to much of Fort Hood, the Army’s Premier installation to train and deploy heavy forces and one of the largest military installations in the world. Fort Hood ranks highest in terms of future capability and can support and sustain more than 50,000 soldiers and their families. I am honored to represent this community of patriots and will continue fighting for them in Washington.
