House passes Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. Congressman Billy Long (MO-07) and Senator Roy Blunt (MO) worked on language that was added to the WIIN Act that delays the Army Corps of Engineers’ proposed Table Rock Lake Shoreline Management Plan for 2 years.

“Senator Blunt and I have spent the last year talking with constituents and making sure that those around Table Rock Lake have their voices heard and get the best deal possible,” said Rep. Long. “For two years residents of Table Rock Lake haven’t been able to build or update their docks among other restrictions imposed by the Army Corps of Engineers Shoreline Management Plan. Our language addresses those concerns by ensuring that individuals will be given a substantial amount of time to adjust to the changes and offer recommendations.”

The language added within the bill would halt the plan by 2 years, lift the moratorium on issuing permits for new and existing docks, extend the public comment period and create an oversight committee to review permits.
