Tours

All tickets are provided to my constituents on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the large number of visitors, please request them as early as possible in order to maximize your chances. For information on sightseeing and attractions, please visit my Washington D.C. Tourism page.

Capitol visitor policies are designed to keep visitors and staff safe and secure and to preserve the collections, facilities, and historic building and grounds for generations to come. Click here for a list of prohibited items.

Beginning Monday, September 26, 2016, individuals visiting the White House from states and territories (currently Minnesota, Washington, Missouri, and American Samoa) whose driver’s licenses do not meet the Real ID Act’s minimum standards will need to do one of the following when they arrive at the White House for their tour:

• Present their state driver’s license and go through knowledge-based authentication by answering personal security questions based off information submitted via the White House Tour link that was filled out on-line.

• Provide a secondary form of acceptable identification (e.g., passport or U.S. military ID)

The White House: Home to the President and First Family, White House tours are available during the following times (excluding federal holidays):

• Tuesday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
• Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The tour is self-guided and free of charge. Tour requests can be submitted up to 3 months in advance and no fewer than 21 days before your trip (although at least 30 days advance notice is strongly encouraged). Following September 11, the White House implemented new, more restrictive security standards for tours, including a limit on the number of visitors that are allowed entrance per day. For this reason, tours are subject to limited availability. The Secret Service conducts a background check on all visitors, therefore each member of your group must submit security information to the White House. After submitting a tour request, the White House will email you a secure link to submit security information directly to the White House Visitor’s office.

The White House Visitor’s Office has informed our office there will be no White House tours from January 5th to January 20th. Tour requests for dates after January 20th may be placed through our office, but no tours after January 20th will be confirmed until guidance is received from the incoming Administration. 

In order to place a White House tour request we need the following information:

• Exact tour date(s) requested (you may request up to three dates)
• A group contact name
• A group contact email address
• A group contact phone number
• The number of people in your group 

To submit your tour request we will need detailed information such as: name, birth date, place of birth, and social security number. Please be prepared to provide this information for members of your tour party when we respond to your request.
