This morning, I had the honor of reading the names of Colorado's fallen veterans at a remembrance ceremony. We are forever grateful for their sacrifice.

#VeteransDay is an opportunity to thank the men and women who have served our country both in times of peace and in times of war. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on how their sacrifices have protected our nation and allowed it to become the beacon of hope for the rest of the world. I believe we are blessed to live in the greatest country the world has ever known in large part because of the men and women who have made tremendous sacrifices in defense of our freedoms.

As a Marine Corps combat veteran and the only veteran in the Colorado delegation, Veterans Day is very special to me. Today, I offer a special thank you to all of our veterans. God bless you all. And, God bless America.

Had the opportunity to speak at St. Mary's in Aurora today regarding the violence in Ethiopia. I recently sent a letter to Sec. John Kerry urging the State Department to take bold action to address this continued violence in Ethiopia. Read my full letter to Sec. I joined South Metro Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Mike Dell’Orfano and EMS Chief Rick Lewis to learn more about their Advance Resource Medic (ARM) vehicle. ARM is a great solution to non-life-threatening EMS calls in our community and gives patients access to the correct response resources.

Not only did soldiers accept these reenlistment bonuses in good faith, but these soldiers fulfilled their end of the bargain by serving our country in a time of war. I will push to ensure these soldiers get to keep their bonus money - they kept faith with us and now we need to keep faith with them.

Short of troops to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan a decade ago, the California National Guard enticed thousands of soldiers with bonuses of $15,000 or more to reenlist and go to war.

READ → Too many of our combat veterans return home to find themselves needing help that often just isn’t there. I’ve dedicated myself in Congress to ensuring all of our combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health challenges receive the help they need and deserve.

Many troops who perform admirably during their combat deployments are later administratively discharged from the military for relatively minor infractions. Frequently, this misconduct closely mirrors indicators of PTSD.

It was great celebrating the 105th Taiwan National Day last week in Denver with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Director General Jerry Chang and Mrs. Chang.

It's no surprise that President Obama earned "Four Pinocchios" for his comments regarding VA wait times. This continued tolerance of mismanagement perpetuates the culture of corruption that now defines VA, a culture which ultimately harms our veterans and American taxpayers. Yet again, the VA has failed to hold corrupt executives accountable.

Obama mischaracterized the firings of senior VA officials relating to wait time problems.
