The Supreme Court deadlock that led to the defeat of President Barack Obama’s plan to shield millions of people from deportation was just the latest judicial check on the ambitions of his administration.
Heroin and prescription drug abuse is tearing families apart throughout South Carolina and across America. From 2013-2014 alone the Palmetto State saw a 118 percent rise in opioid-related deaths. In 2015 the Florence County Sheriff’s Office seized 3,339 percent more heroin than in 2012.
I’m not the first person in South Carolina to praise U.S. Rep. Tom Rice for an outstanding job for his constituents. He does have a key achievement that’s gone largely unnoticed: protecting Medicare Advantage that provides a magnanimous number of folks over 65 a lifeline to complete healthcare all in one program.
Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) announced on Tuesday that he has returned $100,929 of his office’s operating budget to the United States Treasury.
Rep. Tom Rice (R) will continue his stops across the Seventh Congressional District with two stops this Friday in two of the smaller communities he serves.
Rice will host “Coffee With Your Congressman” events at Bojangles’ in Aynor from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then Sellers Town Hall from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Last week and weekend have certainly been political in Loris. Congressman Tom Rice returned to Loris to chat with locals on Thursday, Feb. 17 at Shorty’s Grill, and to later take part in the Loris’ quarterly town hall meeting at the public safety building.
Mayor Henry L. Nichols, now at home and doing well following a hospital stay has released the following statement:
“We are excited to confirm the visit of our U.S. Representative Congress-man Tom Rice for our first town hall meeting, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Loris Public Safety Building located at 3909 Walnut Street, Loris.
Congressman Tom Rice and long-time university employee Rannie Gamble will receive honorary degrees at Francis Marion University’s fall commencement on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Rice will also be the commencement speaker.
South Carolina Congressman Tom Rice who represents the Grand Strand and most of the Pee Dee in Congress has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee.
The Ways and Means Committee is the chief tax writing committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to a post on the congressman's Facebook page:
Congressman Tom Rice spent Monday in Andrews visiting flooded-out homes and talking with victims and volunteers.
“It’s going to take time to recover,” stated Rice. ” It’s going to take time to even figure out the extent of the damages.”
Rice said he met people who’ve suffered great loss, but maintain a positive outlook.
