Tours and Tickets

Besides being our nation’s capital, Washington, DC is a wonderful place to visit. My office can assist constituents from the Second District in setting up tours to some of the city’s most popular sites. All tickets are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. United States Capitol

The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the nation’s legislature. Visitors have the opportunity to explore and to learn the history of the Capitol’s architecture and extensive art collection, as well as the evolution of the House of Representatives and the Senate. One hour Capitol tours, led by a member of my staff, are available Monday through Friday starting every 10 minutes between 8:50 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. We can also arrange Saturday tours led by docents from the Capitol Visitor Center. The White House

The White House is home to the President of the United States and is a symbol of the nation’s executive branch. Self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted). Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up to six months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. You are encouraged to submit your request as early as possible as a limited number of spaces are available. Please note that you will be required to submit basic security information (full name [including middle name], date of birth, social security number, gender, citizenship, and city and state of residency) by phone to my Washington, DC office. White House tour tickets are only available through Congressional offices. *Please note that, due to renovations to the public screening facility outside the White House, White House tours will be temporarily closed August 11 through August 29.* Book a tour »

 

The Supreme Court

Located on First Street, across from the Capitol building, the Supreme Court building serves as both a home to the Court and a symbol of its importance as a coequal, independent branch of government. Trained Docents lead 30-minute courtroom lectures, which are designed to introduce visitors of all ages to the judicial functions of the Supreme Court, the history of the Building, and the architecture of the Courtroom. Although the Supreme Court does not offer guided walking tours, visitors are encouraged to tour the building on their own and take advantage of a variety of educational programs including a visitors’ film and court-related exhibitions. Congressional courtroom lectures are offered Monday through Friday when the Court is not sitting at 2:00 p.m. The Court also offers public courtroom lectures daily (no reservations required). Bureau of Engraving and Printing

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is one of the nation’s paper currency production sites. The 40-minute tour includes an introductory film and gallery tour of the production process, allowing visitors to see millions of dollars being printed. Congressional tours are offered Monday through Friday at 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. During the peak season from April through August, additional tours are offered at 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, and 4:45 p.m. BEP also offers public tours throughout the year (no reservations accepted). Library of Congress

The Library of Congress, established by Congress in 1800 to serve as the legislature’s reference library, offers constituent tours to highlight the art and architecture of the Thomas Jefferson Building, as well as the history of the Library of Congress. These guided 45-minute walking tours are offered Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m., 1:45 p.m., and 3:45 p.m. In January and February, only the 1:45 p.m. tour is offered. The Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center is the nation’s busiest performing arts center and a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. The tour highlights the historic events that led up to the establishment of a national cultural center and includes an interactive exhibit on the life and presidency of John F. Kennedy. Visitors also experience the majestic Hall of States and Hall of Nations and five of the Center’s main theaters, including its three grand performance halls (the Concert Hall, Opera House, and Eisenhower Theater). The National Cathedral

The National Cathedral is a spiritual resource for our nation: a great and beautiful edifice in the city of Washington, an indispensable ministry for people of all faiths and perspectives, and a sacred place for our country in times of celebration, crisis, and sorrow. Congressional tours offer visitors enhanced viewings of the Cathedral’s history, mission, art, and architecture. These tours are available Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. before the Cathedral opens to the public. Public tours are also available.
