Affordable Care Act

Access to Affordable Health Care in the United States: 
The current enrollment period for 2014 coverage has now ended. However individuals who are applying for Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Medicaid, or are eligible for a special enrollment period are encourage to apply. To see if you qualify for one of these events please go to: https://www.healthcare.gov/how-can-i-get-coverage-outside-of-open-enrollment/.

If you are not eligible under these criteria please note that the next open enrollment period will be November 15, 2014 – February 15, 2015. 

For those individuals who did not register during the open enrollment period and do not qualify for a special enrollment period, you may have the ability to claim an extension from any possible fees. To find out if you qualify for an exemption visit: https://www.healthcare.gov/exemptions/

Access to Affordable Health Care for New Yorkers:
The official marketplace for New Yorkers is NY State of Health.  It is estimated that over 1 million New Yorkers, including 615,000 individuals and 450,000 small business employees, will get health coverage through this Marketplace.

While the open enrollment period is closed for individuals, small businesses are eligible to enroll year round. Furthermore, individuals with special qualifying events can register in periods where open enrolment is closed. To see a list of qualifying events in New York State please visit: https://nystateofhealth.ny.gov/specialenrollment.html
 
As before, the State will offer Navigators, or in-person assistors, to provide individuals and businesses with enrollment.   A map of Navigators in each county is available at: http://www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov/IPANavigatorMap.
