Congressman Brian Higgins

Representing the 26th District of NEW YORK

About NY-26

In Congress, Brian represents the 26th Congressional District of New York, which consists of portions of Erie and Niagara counties. The 26th includes most or all of the cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda and Tonawanda, the towns of Amherst, Cheektowaga, Grand Island, Tonawanda and West Seneca, and some or all of the villages of Depew, Kenmore, Sloan and Williamsville.

Long a national hub for manufacturing, the 26th district is diversifying its economy through economic development and investment. The district lies on the shores of Lake Erie, featuring one of the last great undeveloped urban waterfronts in the country -- a waterfront that is currently seeing a remarkable and historic transformation. It is home to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus which conducts life-saving medical research and supports over 12,000 jobs, expected to grow to 16,000 in a few years. It contains the University at Buffalo and Buffalo State College, jewels of the SUNY system, as well as well several other private and public colleges and universities.

In Buffalo, it contains the American terminus of the Peace Bridge, America’s busiest passenger crossing on the Northern Border and a crucial link between the economies of Western New York and Southern Ontario. In the city of Niagara Falls, it contains the American termini of the Rainbow Bridge and the Whirlpool Bridge.
