Rep. Harper, Miss. Delegation Requests Presidential Medal of Freedom Award for Civil Rights Leader Medgar Evers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Mississippi congressional delegation today requested that President Obama posthumously award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Medgar Wiley Evers, the distinguished civil rights leader who was assassinated more than 50 years ago. U.S. Senators Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), and Representatives Bennie G. MISS. LAWMAKERS: FAA GRANTS $3.8 MILLION TO SUPPLEMENT JACKSON AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS
