Internships

Each semester, Congressman Gregg Harper has two college interns in his Washington, D.C., office. During the summer, there are two six-week internship terms. Interns will learn about the legislative process and see how Mississippians are impacted by the decisions made in Washington. Interns will be responsible for greeting constituents that come into the office, giving tours of the Capitol, and assisting the congressman's staff in day-to-day office duties.

Interns are responsible for their own living expenses—including housing, food, and transportation. However, they will receive a monthly stipend to help offset costs.

If you are interested in applying to be an intern in Congressman Harper's office and have completed your sophomore year of college, please fill out the application and submit the online form.

Intellectual Disabilities Internship

In 2010, Congressman Gregg Harper established the first Congressional Internship Program for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. This pilot program was launched in conjunction with George Mason University’s Mason LIFE program and the Committee on House Administration to provide these students with the exciting educational and enrichment opportunities typically only afforded to other congressional interns in Washington, D.C.

After a successful pilot program, a formal internship began in the fall semester of 2010 with over 20 U.S. House of Representatives and Senate offices participating, both Republican and Democrat. This is now an ongoing program in the House of Representatives and continues to be a partnership between House Administration, George Mason and Congressman Harper’s office.

For more information on the Intellectual Disabilities Internship, please contact Alyssa Hinman with the Committee on House Administration at (202) 225-8281.
