Internships

Rep. Adam Schiff has made internships available in his office in Washington, D.C., and in his district office in Burbank in order to provide that experience for students and others who wish to learn more about the workings of a Congressional office and about our country’s democratic political process. The rules of the House of Representatives permit interns and fellows to serve temporarily in the office of a Member of Congress when that service is primarily of educational benefit.

Internships in both California and Washington are unpaid and last approximately three months. (Interns in Washington typically work 3 days a week during the summer. Washington internships vary more during the school year to accommodate students’ schedules.) To apply for an internship with Rep. Schiff, fill out a completed Internship Application Form to the respective office where you wish to intern. Then email a cover letter, resume, and brief writing sample to either Rep. Schiff’s Burbank District Office or Washington, D.C. office.

Students are encouraged to apply for internship positions in the Washington, D.C. office at least two months in advance of the desired start date. There is no deadline for internship applications in Rep. Schiff’s Burbank office. Please note that summer internships are by far the most popular – and we always receive more applications than we can accommodate.

Our Spring internship class is full. Summer internship applications are due by April 15, 2017.

If you have any questions regarding internships with Congressman Schiff’s office, please feel free to call our Burbank office at (818) 450-2900 and (323) 315-5555, or our D.C. office at (202) 225-4176.
