Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV) introduced legislation yesterday to address catastrophic wildfire and invasive species threats to Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe Basin. The Federal Lands Subcommittee chaired by McClintock had already considered the preliminary draft of H.R. 3382, “Lake Tahoe Restoration Act of 2015,” on July 14th, putting it on a fast track for House passage.
Rep. Tom McClintock, CA-04, today introduced H.R. 979, a bill to honor Marine SSgt Sky Mote, who was killed in Afghanistan on August 10, 2012. The legislation will designate a mountain peak in the John Muir Wilderness, under which the Mote family gathered to camp every year, as “Sky Point.” Every member of the California congressional delegation is a co-sponsor of the bill.

During the 1980’s, California enjoyed a Constitutional spending limit that produced a decade of balanced budgets, prudent reserves, no tax increases and steady economic growth. You can measure California’s fiscal collapse from that day in 1990 when Californians foolishly threw that limit away.
