Today, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) supported two separate pieces of legislation aimed at curbing unnecessary regulations and rejecting the anti-Israel United Nations resolution.

H.R. 26, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act will curb unnecessary major regulations from unaccountable bureaucrats by requiring agencies to submit major regulations, those costing more than $100 million in economic effect, to Congress for approval.

“Missourians are fed-up with the endless job killing federal regulations that have been forced upon them by the Executive Branch,” Luetkemeyer said. “It’s the American people, through their elected representatives, who should be able to decide which major regulations should be approved or rejected. I look forward to this important bill finally becoming a law in the coming weeks.”

Luetkemeyer is a cosponsor of the REINS Act and has supported it in previous Congresses.

H.Res. 11, is legislation that opposes the UN Security Council resolution that passed on December 23, 2016 and calls for the resolution to be repealed.

“This bill is in response to the current Administration’s decision to not exercise its veto on U.N. Resolution 2334 which condemns Israeli settlements and accuses our ally of violating international law,” Luetkemeyer said. “I was proud to cast my vote today to stand in solidarity with Israel, in contrast to the recent position taken by our country’s representatives at the United Nations.”

Luetkemeyer is a cosponsor of H.Res.11.
