WASHINGTON - This morning, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) released the following statement in response to yesterday's announcement from the Pentagon that they would discontinue their collection efforts of bonuses and loan repayments given to enlisted California National Guard members:

“Yesterday, the Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert O. Work assured me that the Department of Defense would suspend all efforts to collect reimbursements from those impacted as soon as possible. Our service men and women courageously serve their country, spending time away from their families to make sure we remain safe and I am pleased the Department of Defense has responded to our requests to halt the collections. We must work to ensure this issue is addressed and prevented from occurring again.”

Congressman David G. Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
