U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03), along with Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill, the Missouri delegation and other Members of Congress, sent a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan. The letter requests that the Corps extend the public comment period to at least 120 days.

“After hearing from stakeholders and individuals deeply involved with the Missouri River system, my colleagues and I decided to request an extension for the comment period to allow each voice to be heard,” Luetkemeyer said. “This plan will impact thousands of Missourians and it is necessary that the public be given additional time to analyze and comment on how it will it will affect them.”

“The Corps’ management plan and EIS will have a significant, long-term impact on families and businesses located along the Missouri River,” Senator Roy Blunt said. “All of those affected deserve to have their voices heard, which is why it’s critical for the Corps to extend the comment period and give stakeholders the opportunity to thoroughly review the plan and weigh in with their comments.”

“The Missouri River is a vital resource and state treasure, which is why it’s critically important we ensure the implementation of a thoughtful and effective recovery program, and give all stakeholders the time to properly submit their comments and be a full part of this process,” Senator Claire McCaskill said.
