Government Oversight

Oversight of the Executive Branch and its federal agencies is one of Congress’s primary responsibilities – whether the issue is the botched handling of the terrorist attack in Benghazi, the Justice Department’s prying into journalists’ communications or the partisanship of the IRS.

Accountability, transparency and appropriate public scrutiny are necessary for government to function well, within its constitutional bounds.

You can stay informed about Congress’ oversight work by visiting the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s website: www.oversight.house.gov
