Each year, Congress hosts the Congressional App Challenge (CAC), a competition for high school students to highlight the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.
The Congressional App Challenge starts on July 18, 2016, and runs through November 2, 2016. Students can choose to work on their own or in teams of up to four students to create an app on any topic for mobile, tablet, or other computing devices on a platform of their choice.
Registration for the CAC takes place online, where students will submit their app along with a short demonstration video. The CAC website contains all the guidelines for the challenge: www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us.
All high school aged students are encouraged to particpate, regardless of their level of experience with coding. Students will expand their knowledge of programming during the development of their app and will have the opportunity to work with our partner technology experts for a fun and educational experience.
At the end of the competition, the winning app in each district will be featured on the House of Representatives website and the Congressional App Challenge website.
