Like most Texans, I enjoy hunting and shooting. As a gun owner, lifetime member of the NRA, and a congressman with an A NRA voting record, I am ardent supporter of the Second Amendment. I am committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

While some believe that removing guns from the hands of American citizens will solve gun-related crimes, this is not true. Individuals, not guns, are responsible for their actions. Ever-tightening gun laws, as some support, will only work to take guns away from law-abiding citizens – the large majority of gun owners – and not the criminals who use firearms to commit crimes.
