Amber Talley, Chief of Staff

Amber Kirby Talley began working as Legislative Director for Congressman Jason Chaffetz in February 2015 after serving as Counsel for the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform since August 2014. Before moving to the Hill, Amber worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in the firm's tax practice and had worked at the Multistate Tax Commission in its National Nexus Program. She is a graduate of North Carolina State University (B.A., English, 2006), Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D., 2010) and American University (LL.M., Law and Government, 2012 and M.P.P., 2012). A North Carolina native, Amber resides with her husband and dogs in Virginia and is licensed to practice law in New York.


Clay White, Legislative Director

Clay was born and raised in Beaver, Utah. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a B.A. in Political Science. During his time at UVU, Clay interned for Rep. Chaffetz in his Provo District Office. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Public Management at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the Chaffetz team in Washington, Clay spent three years on Capitol Hill working as a Legislative Aide for Rep. Chris Stewart on a variety of issues including: immigration, health care and postal issues. He currently resides in Alexandria, VA with his beautiful wife, Tanya. 


Danielle Suber, Policy Advisor and Director of Operations

Danielle was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Quito, Ecuador. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in International Relations and French. Prior to joining Congressman Chaffetz, she worked for Senator Lindsey Graham and The Heritage Foundation. She is a member of the Capitol Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.


Shannon Sorensen, Counsel

Shannon is the second of nine children, raised in the heart of Provo, Utah. She graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2012. She stayed in Provo to attend BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and graduated cum laude with her Juris Doctor in 2015 at age 22. Before moving to the Hill, she worked for a year in the private sector practicing intellectual property and cyber law at a litigation firm in Salt Lake City. She joined Rep. Chaffetz’s office in May 2016 as Counsel. Shannon is certified to teach yoga and loves to read and sightsee in her spare time. She is licensed to practice law in Utah.


Paul Johnson, Legislative Correspondent
 
Paul began working as Congressman Chaffetz’ Legislative Correspondent in June 2016 shortly after graduating from BYU with a B.A. in Political Science. Born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, Paul was surrounded by politics for much of his childhood and teenage years. During his time at BYU, Paul worked on the leadership committee for the BYU Political Affairs Society, served an LDS mission in Arizona, and completed several political internships. He and his wife live in Arlington, Virginia and love to travel.


MJ Henshaw, Press Secretary 

MJ was born and raised in Orem, Utah. She is a proud graduate of Utah State University with a degree in Journalism. She spent 4 years working for members of the Idaho delegation before joining Congressman Chaffetz in June 2012. MJ enjoys playing the ukulele and running marathons.


Utah Staff

Wade Garrett, District Director

Wade was born and raised in Nephi, UT. For the past four years he has served as a policy advisor to Chaffetz, specializing in public lands and rural area issues. He holds an associate’s degree from Snow College, and bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. Prior to joining Chaffetz’ staff, Wade worked at the Juab County mining company for ten years. He serves on the State Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Committee which has allowed him hands-on experience with ranching, mining, farming, and other issues that impact rural counties. Wade currently resides in Nephi with his wife and four children.


Jennifer Scott, Communications Director


Jennifer has worked with Mr. Chaffetz in a variety of capacities since 2006 when they began planning his 2008 Congressional campaign. As the campaign manager on the very first Chaffetz campaign, Jennifer was deeply involved in the messaging and communication side of the Chaffetz organization. She has since served four years as the District Director and currently serves as a Utah-based Communications Director. Jennifer has a long history of grass roots activism in her West Jordan community. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in communications and political science. Jennifer Andelin, Senior Advisor

Jennifer loves the outdoors and has a passion for international work. She received a B.A. from BYU in Latin American Studies with a minor in Music Performance. Before joining the Chaffetz office in 2009, Jennifer hosted international delegations visiting Utah. She enjoys meeting people and learning from other cultures. Jennifer and her husband Nathan have 5 children and are expecting their 11th grandchild. They love to spend time with their family and recently put a zip line in their backyard. Jennifer likes hiking in Utah’s mountains, singing, gardening and traveling.


Joshua Emfield, Military Advisor & Director of Operations

Joshua was born and raised in L.A. County, CA. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and a minor in Portuguese/Spanish. Joshua has been with Congressman Chaffetz’s office since 2014. He serves in the Utah National Guard’s Military Intelligence unit and advises the office on military legislation. Joshua conducts interviews, oversees office operations, and visits with local elected officials and organizations. He has worked in the military, private, and government sectors; bringing a wide variety of experience. Joshua lives in Utah County with his amazing wife and three fun children.   


Michael Stowell, Constituent Representative


Mike was born and raised in Levan, UT.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A. in Spanish and later attended the University of Akron School of Law graduating Cum Laude and earning a certificate in Health Law. He joined Congressman Chaffetz’s office in 2016.  Mike, loves spending time with his four wonderful kids, coaching sports teams and supporting them in their many other activities.  He lives in Nephi with his beautiful wife where they enjoy being close to family.
