Internships

I invite all college students to apply for a Congressional internship in my Washington D.C. and South Florida offices for spring, summer or fall terms. The term of the internship is flexible, however, it must be at least three months in length, and you must commit to no less than 20 hours per week. Applicants must be highly-motivated, self-starting, and detail-orientated individuals. Professionalism is a must.

Main responsibilities include answering phones, processing mail, drafting constituent correspondence letters, researching legislative issues, attending congressional hearings, briefings, and seminars, and assisting in the administrative operations of my office. This unpaid internship may qualify for academic credit, depending on the requisites of the college or university.

In addition to academically superior students from South Florida, my office has hosted interns and fellows from many parts of the world, including Australia, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, giving interns the opportunity to connect with peers from around the world as they learn about the day-to-day work of the House of Representatives. Many of my former interns and fellows have gone on to enroll in graduate school and law school, or found employment on Capitol Hill, Congressional and state-wide political campaigns, as well as at a variety of non-profit, private, and government organizations.
