This November, we celebrate National Entrepreneurship Month. The backbone of this country’s economy is small business. In Oklahoma, over 70% of our economy comes from small businesses. It’s time to stop keeping our small businesses from succeeding and time to let them grow, hire, succeed, and be great again.
Today in 1907, Oklahoma earned its statehood and joined the United States as the 46th state.
Today, House Committee on Energy and Commerce had a subcommittee hearing about the safety of self-driving cars – and even brought a few to Capitol Hill this morning. It was interesting to hear how the industry is working to ensure safety is the #1 priority when it comes to autonomous vehicles.
Congressman Markwayne Mullin shared Sheryl Sandberg's post.
Proud to have veteran-owned The PC Landing Zone in OK-2. Thanks to Sheryl Sandberg for highlighting their growing business success in Oklahoma after their unwavering dedication to our nation's military. We're grateful for your service then, and now.
On Veterans Day we honor the women and men who’ve served our country. U.S. veterans embody the highest ideals of our country: sacrifice, discipline and hard wor...k. These same characteristics also make them effective entrepreneurs. In the U.S. there are more than three million veteran-owned businesses, which provide more than 5.7 million jobs nationwide. These veterans protected our freedom and returned home to help make their country a better and more prosperous place to live. We’re forever grateful for their courage and commitment.
When Victor Lezama retired from the military after 20 years of service he started The PC Landing Zone, a store in Muskogee, Oklahoma that provides computer and cell phone repair. Victor says that a lot of his customers are fellow veterans and seeing him running a successful business inspires them to do the same.
We thank Victor and all our veterans for their service to our country.
Join me in taking time today to thank a veteran for defending our nation's freedoms. #VeteransDay
November is Native American Heritage Month. As a member of the Cherokee Nation, I'm proud to help raise awareness about Native American history, and the unique struggles we face as a culture in this nation. Today kicks off the famous Will Rogers Days in Oklahoma! I've embraced my inner cowboy with my boys recently, and today though November 6th is your chance to do the same.
Our nation’s tax code should serve the people, not Washington. Luckily, House Republicans have found a #BetterWay to simplify the tax code. We want you to be able to file your taxes on a form the size of a postcard. See how it’s possible by watching the video below.

Just as we knew all along, the President's signature healthcare law, Obamacare, lands increased premiums across the board for insured Oklahomans. On average, those insured in Oklahoma will see a 76% increase in their rates next year. When even the administration can admit Obamacare has failed, its good to know House Republicans have a #BetterWay.

I spent today in Poteau and Wister - and it was great to speak to students at Carl Albert State College, tour the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Pharmacy Clinic, visit with the Poteau Rotary Club, and talk with a sophomore government class at Wister High School. Thanks to all who were a part of today's visits!
Did you know smoking kills more Oklahomans than alcohol, auto accidents, murders, and illegal drugs combined? During Quit Month, OK.gov reminds all of us that #SmokingIsNotOK
It was a great day to be in Claremore! Thanks to the Rogers County Commissioners, Bobby Stem of AOGC and IRA Green Construction, Pelco and 5th grade students of Catalayah School, folks at the Claremore Senior Center, and Rhonda Bear of She Brews Coffee House.
I wrapped up my day by talking with the new class of trainees at the Tulsa Fire Department Academy. I'm very thankful for their commitment to our community.

This is a tragic loss for McAlester Army Ammunition Plant and the people of McAlester. Mr. Sauro dedicated his life to working with the Armed Services to ensure the warfighter was equipped with the best we had to offer. My prayers are with his family and friends, and I grieve with them for the loss of this American hero.
This afternoon, I had the honor of presenting a Vietnam Veteran and a WWII Veteran, both from the Second District, with military medals and decorations that were long overdue. I am grateful to these gentlemen, and to all of our service members, for their unwavering dedication to our nation and its freedom.
Afterwards, along with The Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce, I was honored to partake in the ribbon cutting ceremony recognizing the new Walk of Honor Monument at the Muskogee War Memorial Park - Home of the USS Batfish.
Happy birthday to the Second District's own Mickey Mantle! The Commerce Comet who hailed from Spavinaw, OK would have been 85 today.
Thanks to Claremore for a great day! I enjoyed meeting with folks today at Brookdale Senior Living, Claremore Rotary Club, RSU, and the Verdigris Fire Department, Police Department, as well as their city employees.
Enjoyed visiting with students at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant today!
