KAGS: Bill Flores honors local veterans

Brazos Valley, Texas - Eight veterans were honored with the Congressional Veteran Commendation award.

The ceremony which started in 2012, honors veterans who have not only served our country admirably while in the military, but who have also served in the Brazos Valley community.

Recipients are nominated by local constituents and represents various branches of the military.

Each award was presented by District-17 US Congressman Bill Flores, who believes a true military hero knows that service does not end when you take off the uniform.

The recipients of this award have served in conflicts spanning over three generations. From World War II, to Vietnam, to Gulf War.

The recipients of this year’s awards were:

Rudy G. Cortez of Bryan

Franklin Joe Karasek, Jr. of Caldwell

Frank J. Kocman, Jr. of Bryan

J.D. Langley of College Station

James D. McDonald of Bryan

David P. Marion of College Station

Rodulphe L. Peltier of College Station

Jason Paul Rhodes of Milano
