Rep. Tom Graves Statement on FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s Resignation

Washington, December 15, 2016 - Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement today after Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler announced he would step down on January 20, 2017:

“As a member of the Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee, which has oversight of the FCC, I look forward to turning a new page on January 20 in the relationship between the Commission and Congress.

“During my time in Congress, I’ve been disappointed in the FCC’s frequent partisan actions, which are dismissive of the Constitution and our nation’s laws. The FCC’s unwillingness to work with all parties to develop consensus solutions to difficult 21st Century problems has been disappointing.

“I hope that, under new leadership, the Commission will remember that it’s ultimately answerable to the American people and their representatives in Congress, not a political party.”
