Sixth District of Texas

I am proud to represent the people of the Sixth District of Texas. The Sixth District is one of the more diverse districts in Texas and is made up of Ellis County, Navarro County, and a portion of Tarrant County.

View a map of the Sixth District.

  • Ellis County includes the cities of Waxahachie, Ennis, Midlothian, Red Oak, Ferris, Italy, Palmer, Oak Leaf, Maypearl, Milford, Pecan Hill, and Bardwell.
  • Navarro County includes the cities of Corsicana, Kerens, Dawson, Rice, Frost, and Richland.
  • In Tarrant County I represent part of the following cities: Arlington, Crowley, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Kennedale, and Mansfield.

Below is further information on some of the larger cities in each of the eight counties I represent.

Arlington: population 370,000

In the past, Arlington was an industrial community centered between Dallas and Fort Worth in Tarrant county. Arlington has always relied on the General Motors plant located in the center of town. However, Arlington has become "Fun Central", with a Six Flags amusement park, a Hurricane Harbor water park, the Texas Rangers baseball team, and restaurants. Arlington is also the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Corsicana: population 26, 253

The town of Corsicana is located fifty miles southeast of Dallas and is the seat of Navarro county. Through its rich history, Corsicana has been the site of prosperous oil booms and gateway railroad construction. Today, Corsicana is a diverse industrial town featuring oil extraction, furniture, and chemical and rubber products.

Ennis: population 19, 795

My hometown of Ennis is located in Ellis County. Ennis is generally an agri-business community with some manufacturing and tourism.

Fort Worth: population 727, 575

In Tarrant county, Fort Worth, or "Cowtown," is known for its famous western style and hometown appeal. Fort Worth is quite often referred to as the city "Where the West begins." Early on the primary industries were oil/gas and livestock. Eventually, the job market shifted towards military and defense related work. As the military downsized, Fort Worth is going through yet another evolution. Commercial and financial services, high tech aerospace activities, transportation and computer related industries are booming in Fort Worth. In addition, part of Alliance Airport, a private cargo-shipping business airport, is located in the Northwestern section of Fort Worth.

Grand Prairie: population 175,396

The city of Grand Prairie was incorporated in 1909 and straddles the border between Dallas and Tarrant counties.  World War II brought industry to Grand Prairie in the form of aircraft assembly at the North American Aviation plant.  North American was the first North American was the first windowless, fully air conditioned and artificially lit aircraft production facility in the nation.   Since that time, Grand Prairie has become a hub for aviation related production with American Eurocopter, Bell Helicopter, and numerous parts manufacturers leading the way.  On the entertainment front, the city boasts a state of the art horse racing facility and minor league baseball park.
