Proudly Serving Florida's 15th Congressional District

Committee

SHARE

I am honored to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services (FSC) and as Vice Chair of the FSC Housing and Insurance Subcommittee, as well as a Senior Deputy Majority Whip, during the 115th Congress. My position on the FSC allows me to participate in the legislation and oversight of issues critically important to Floridians, while my position as a Deputy Whip allows me to serve as a conservative Floridian voice at the leadership table.

On the Financial Services Committee, I serve on the following subcommittees:

Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance (Vice Chairman)
The Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance has primary jurisdiction over all federal housing programs, excluding those administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This jurisdiction includes, but is not limited to, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, construction issues, and mortgage insurance. With regards to insurance, the Subcommittee covers all insurance programs and markets in which the federal government plays a role such as flood insurance, terrorism risk insurance, and others.

Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises

As a member of the Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee, I have oversight over the world’s greatest capital markets and security exchanges. From investor protection to capital formation, I responsibly promote free market principles. Currently, the Subcommittee is focused on ensuring liquid, innovative markets and an efficient, dependable housing finance system. Working toward these goals will facilitate access to credit, diverse consumer choice, and taxpayer protection from bailouts.

The Subcommittee’s broad jurisdiction includes securities, exchanges, and finance; capital markets activities, including business capital formation and venture capital; activities involving futures, forwards, options, and other types of derivative instruments; the Securities and Exchange Commission; secondary market organizations for home mortgages, including the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, and the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation; the Federal Housing Finance Agency; and the Federal Home Loan Banks.

As a Senior Deputy Whip, I have the unique opportunity to drive legislation

I am honored to serve as a Senior Deputy Whip with Majority Whip Scalise. The role of the Senior Deputy Whip is to understand the issues that are important to the district of each Member of Congress. This information helps ensure that the legislation on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives best reflects the interests and values of constituents from Tampa Bay and Central Florida and across America.
