Events in Walla Walla, Waitsburg, Dayton, Cheney, and Spokane

Next week in Eastern Washington, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) will focus on ways technology can benefit rural communities and Veterans healthcare. She will hold open media events in Walla Walla, Waitsburg, Dayton, Cheney, and Spokane.

During tours and town hall events, the Congresswoman looks forward to hearing from each community, so she can bring their thoughts and ideas to Congress. She will talk about the work she is doing in the People’s House to solve problems and create greater opportunity for Eastern Washingtonians.

Wednesday, January 20

2:00 PM         TOUR: YWCA of Walla Walla

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will tour the YWCA facilities including domestic violence shelter for women and children. She will also meet with YWCA staff and board members to discuss community influence, local support, and future plans.

4:00 PM         TOWN HALL: Conversation with Cathy in Walla Walla

7:30 AM         PRESENTATION: Certificate of Recognition for Dr. Dan Laizure, Walla Walla Dental Care

 Rep. McMorris Rodgers will recognize Dr. Laizure for his service in the United States Navy and for providing free dental care to Veterans in the Walla Walla region. Walla Walla Dental Care invites community leaders and media to participate in this celebration.

8 – 11 AM       TOUR & ROUNDTABLE: Meetings and Events at Fort Walla Walla Veterans Campus

Fort Walla Walla Museum, 755 NE Myra Rd., Walla Walla, WA 99362

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will spend the morning with several organizations that provide services to veterans, including the Walla Walla Veterans Residential Rehab Unit, the Walla Walla VAMC Call Center, and Fort Walla Walla. The morning will conclude with a roundtable event with Veteran Service Organizations and the Walla Walla VA Taskforce.

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will visit the PocketiNet Experience Center, their home technology demonstration site, and discuss PocketiNet’s unique Gigabit Country Fiber-to-the-Home project.

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will meet with Columbia County Commissioners to discuss the state of the county and be briefed on issues effecting Columbia County residents.

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will host a public meeting in Cheney to listen to ideas and answer questions.

3:00 PM         TOUR: Spokane Public Schools’ THEZONE and STEM Programs

Location:     North Central High School, 1600 N Howard St, Spokane, WA 99205

Rep. McMorris Rodgers will meet with leaders of Spokane Public Schools’ THEZONE Project to discuss its vision, goals, and approach to revitalization in Spokane’s Hillyard and Logan neighborhoods. The Congresswoman will be briefed on STEM education efforts happening at Spokane Public Schools. Spokane Mayor David Condon will also participate.

3:45 PM         TOUR: Spokane Teaching Health Center
