Keeping A Nation’s Promise to Her Veterans - President Eisenhower, in his first inaugural address, reminded us that: “We must be ready to dare all for our country. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”

For their courage, their service and their sacrifice, we owe our brave fallen heroes, and all those in uniform who serve this nation, a tremendous debt of gratitude. We must honor our commitment to them and doing so is a priority for me. Please review my latest newsletter (here) outlining many of the steps I have taken to keep these promises.

National Security - Our men and women who wear the uniform today deserve nothing less than the best, most advanced battlefield weaponry and technology. Anything less is unacceptable. I am committed to seeing that we have the advanced aircraft, warships, and battlefield hardware to guarantee our troops supremacy. That means making the investments needed to develop and purchase advanced equipment.

We must ensure that in the global war on terror, we do not hamper those American soldiers who are putting their lives on the line each and every day to go after and capture those who are planning the next 9-11 attacks. We must recognize the intense hatred that some will maintain against freedom loving nations. We have taken the fight to the terrorists since 9-11. We have made tremendous strides in rooting out terrorist cells. We must see these missions through to ensure that the hard work of our troops was not in vain.

Securing our borders is not only an important for addressing illegal immigration, but it is a critical element to securing our nation from terrorists. Let’s not forget that it was our broken immigration system that enabled most of the 9-11 terrorists entry into the U.S.
