Theme for 2016: “Land of the Free – Home of the Brave”
Description: This is an annual competition open to all high school aged students, age 14–18, who live in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District. The art will be on exhibit at the Pikes Peak Library 21c for the month of March. The library is located at 1175 Chapel Hills Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80920. The grand prize winner’s art will be displayed for one year in the hallway between the Cannon House Office Building and the Capitol.

Rules:
This competition is open to high school aged students (grades 9-12, age 14-18) from schools or home schooled in the 5th Congressional District of Colorado. One art entry per student. Each school may submit a total of five entries. Artwork must be two-dimensional, and when framed, no larger than 28 inches by 28 inches, no more than 4 inches deep, no more than 15 lbs in weight and within the following categories for acceptance into the show:

Each entry must be an original concept: The entry may not be a reproduction of an image from a third party’s work in the same or any other medium; the work may not infringe upon the rights of any third party; the work may not violate the U.S. Copyright Laws.
The artwork must be framed for the competition and show.
Because the entire weight of the art piece will be hung from a center point, framed art must have a sturdy hanging mechanism such as wire. If art is chosen for the grand prize, the winner must protect their work with a Plexiglas or glass frame. The winner will receive further instruction regarding their artwork after the awards ceremony.
If the artwork is abstract in design, please indicate on the back side which side is up with arrows.
Adhesive Label: All artwork submitted must have an adhesive label or written clearly on the back of the artwork, the following information:

Prize:
The grand prize winner and one guest will be invited to a reception in Washington D.C. He/she will receive one round trip ticket to Washington D.C. for the reception as well as a scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design. (Awards & scholarships are subject to change at the discretion of the donor).
*We reserve the right to refuse any entries that are deemed inappropriate.
