This annual competition—open to all Congressional Districts—allows students grades 9-12 to submit original paintings, drawings, collages, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs. From the artwork collections, each District will select a winner. District winners will receive free airfare to attend the national reception in Washington D.C. during June, where an overall winner will be selected.
In addition, each District-winning artwork will hang for one year in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel used by congressional members and guests to travel between the Capitol and congressional office buildings.
For more information, students may call Allison Hicks at 870.203.0540 or email her. In addition, they may visit http://www.house.gov/content/educate/art_competition
