In this era of austerity, it is imperative Washington spends each dollar wisely.  Now is the time to tighten our belts and focus on investing in transportation projects that generate the most bang for the buck, grow the economy, and create jobs.   

The way to achieve those goals is by investing in essential infrastructure like road and bridge construction.  These investments have the ability to accelerate our economic recovery and will create jobs for Arkansans because infrastructure investments have a positive effect on every sector of the economy.  According to the Census Bureau, over 1.3 million individual businesses are directly involved in infrastructure design and construction.  From engineers, to managers, to physical laborers, over 3.3 million full-time jobs are directly related to infrastructure construction.

As a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee I am committed to working for a comprehensive transportation bill that benefits all Americans and helps grow the businesses that build and repair our Nation’s highways and bridges.
