OTTAWA, IL – Last week, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Channahon) held his semi-annual meeting with the IL-16 Agriculture Advisory Committee at City Hall in Ottawa.  Formed in 2013, the Committee of 26 active members is made up of representatives from each county in the district. This proactive partnership meets to address agriculture issues on the local, state, and national level.

The meeting last week covered a range of topics from crop insurance to the 2018 Farm Bill. Following the meeting, Congressman Kinzinger released this statement:

“I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to listen and learn from members of the Agriculture Advisory Committee, who not only represent each of the fourteen counties in my district, but serve as community leaders. It’s important to have their input and for their voices to be heard – especially when it comes to decision making on the policies that impact their bottom line.

“Agriculture in Illinois is essential. The industry generates $19 billion annually and employs nearly one million people throughout the state. Looking ahead to the 115th Congress, I will work with my colleagues to ensure Illinois farmers remain competitive internationally and here at home, while making sure we get our economy growing again.”
