Investing in transportation and infrastructure projects in Oregon and across the nation creates jobs and ensures our global competitiveness going forward. Right now, rising nations, like China, India and Brazil are making huge infrastructure investments in air, rail, port and ground. Investments in those areas here at home play a significant role in the United States economic superiority moving forward.
I strongly support transportation and infrastructure funding to create good jobs, spur economic growth and opportunities in our communities and improve commerce and travel across our region. I was proud to support the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act to reauthorize transportation and infrastructure programs for five years. This is the first time Congress has passed a long-term surface transportation bill since 2005 and marks a major accomplishment in finally addressing our crumbling roads and bridges. |
