For the past eight years, the Obama Administration has imposed needless and damaging regulations on America’s financial institutions. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has burdened small businesses and stifled economic growth, and Congress has attempted many times to overhaul or repeal the most onerous of these regulations. I am confident that the next administration will take up Congress’ financial reforms and finally eliminate these harmful rules and regulations.

Republican lawmakers and business groups are crafting plans to rein in the federal government’s consumer-finance watchdog, the CFPB, in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential victory.

Happy 109th birthday to the 46th state, Oklahoma – a place I am blessed to call home.

Our nation’s veterans are the backbone of our fundamental freedoms. Veterans dedicate their lives to service, and we must always respect, honor and remember their sacrifices and strength that protect our American ideals and defend our nation. We thank our veterans not only today, but every day, for it is because of them that we have the privilege to live in this great nation of ours.

During the month of November, we honor and recognize our nation’s rich Native American heritage and culture. Our nation is home to many tribes, and I have always made it a priority to understand their needs. Our federal government and our nation’s tribes have a unique trust relationship, and it is one that is based on mutual respect. https://cole.house.gov/media-…/weekly-columns/proud-heritage

As a former professor, one of my favorite parts of the job is visiting with schools and universities across the Fourth District. I was really impressed with the bright students at Duncan High School, and I truly enjoyed answering their questions! #FourthDistrictFriday

I am extremely pleased that the Pentagon has taken our request seriously to halt the bonus repayment demands from California National Guard members. It was an unnecessary move that disrespects the honor and sacrifice that our service members provide to protect our freedoms. Fortunately, the House has passed protections in our National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 to ensure that something like this does not happen in the future to our men and women in uniform.

Citing his duty to keep promises to service members, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter suspends efforts to make veterans pay back signing bonuses and tuition aid.

Social Security has been one of the greatest programs for the American people, but unless Congress acts to implement badly needed reforms, it may no longer be available for future generations.

Since it was established in 1935, the Social Security program has become one of the most popular, and relied upon, government programs. A typical retired American will derive more than fifty percent of their income from Social Security. And approximately twenty five percent of American retirees rely...

It was great to visit and tour the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Metro office facility. I had the opportunity to view the room where some of the hard work happens. They monitor all the outages in the Oklahoma City area and execute dispatches to help repair areas for those who have lost power. Thanks for having me!

It’s been a busy week here in the district. I was fortunate to visit Maysville and view the flood damage from this summer’s flooding. Things have been looking up since then, and I’m proud of the community effort there in the effort to rebuild. I also had a chance to meet with the Lindsay Chamber of Commerce as well, and certainly enjoyed the fellowship and discussion with the community of Lindsay!
