Volunteers Rebuilding After Idaho Fire to Receive Award Wednesday in Kamiah Crapo to present Spirit of Idaho Award after veteran event

Lewiston – Volunteers, concerned citizens and residents in Idaho’s Clearwater, Lewis and Idaho counties will be honored tomorrow during a ceremony at the Kamiah City Hall. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will present his Spirit of Idaho Award to those going above and beyond the call in rebuilding the homes of resident who lost their homes to wildfire last summer.
A series of fires last August forced more than 9,000 residents to evacuate and 78 homes in the three counties were destroyed or damaged by fire. Some of the homes have been rebuilt and plans are in the works for other assistance. Crapo will meet with volunteers, county commissioners, Red Cross leaders and members of the Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) who are assisting property owners. The Wildfire Unmet Needs Committee is now serving as a clearing house for fire assistance.
Earlier in the day tomorrow, Crapo will conclude his two-day series of meetings with Idaho veterans regarding his new federal legislation to improve the VA health care system.
