Boise – Political and educational leaders and professionals observing national statistics about assaults on college and university campuses will gather Friday at Boise State University’s Student Union Building to discuss ways to keep Idaho students safe.  Idaho officials say the start of a new school year is an appropriate time to remind potential victims that help and prevention efforts are available and ongoing.

National criminal statistics show one in five women are sexually assaulted while in college; more than 90% do not report the crime.  Additionally, twenty-three percent of undergraduate females experience rape or sexual assault through physical force or violence. The forum on Friday brings together Idaho professionals to discuss ways to keep students on Idaho campuses safe through reducing the sexual violence.

Learn about how groups within Boise State University and around Boise are fighting sexual and domestic violence in Idaho and about the support networks in place for survivors. Senator Mike Crapo will introduce a panel discussion including the above participants moderated by Dean of Students Christian Wuthruch.
