Getting Things Done

Recapping the Committee’s Accomplishments for the 114th Congress

With all the talk about partisan gridlock in Congress these days, it is easy for many Americans to loose sight of the fact that there is work getting done on their behalf in Washington. The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has been working in a forward-looking and bipartisan manner to address some of the Nation’s most pressing transportation and bricks-and-mortar infrastructure needs. With the end of the 114th Congress only a short time away, we want to look back at our accomplishments so far.

Throughout the 114th Congress, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has focused its efforts on strengthening our Nation’s infrastructure and improving federal programs through common sense reforms that cut red tape, reduce regulatory burdens, increase transparency, and encourage fiscal responsibility.

Among the bills that have passed through the Committee and have been signed into law since January 2014 are the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, the Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act (which was included as part of the FAST Act), the Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety (PIPES) Act, the Coast Guard Authorization Act, the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act, and the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act. As of this posting, the Committee continues to work with its colleagues in the Senate to finalize a Water Resources Development Act to send to the President for his signature.
