On Tuesday, November 8 there will be a General Election for President of the United States and the U.S. House of Representatives, and two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution. All regular polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where Can I Find A Sample Ballot?
The Alexandria Sample Ballot is posted here. It includes President and Vice President of the United States, U.S. House of Representatives (Eighth Congressional District), and two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.
The Virginia Department of Elections has more information on the proposed amendments as well as a lookup up tool that voters can use to find out what's on their ballot http://www.elections.virginia.gov/voter-outreach/whats-ballot.html.
How Do I Vote Absentee?
Many voters are eligible to vote "absentee" in Virginia beginning 45 days before every Primary and General Election. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail was November 1, but you may vote "in-person" absentee through 5pm on Saturday, November 5. Alexandria has two in-person absentee voting sites:

Thursday, November 3, 8am to 8pm
Friday, November 4, 8am to 6pm
Saturday, November 5, 8am to 5pm

Thursday, November 3, noon to 8pm
Friday, November 4, noon to 6pm
Saturday, November 5, 10am to 5pm

How Do I Register to Vote?
The Voter Registration Deadline for the November 8, 2016 election was Friday, October 21. Applications submitted now will be processed after the election, https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/. Photo ID Requirements
Virginia voters must show photo identification prior to voting. For more information, including a list of acceptable IDs, please see Virginia's Department of Elections website.
Don't have photo ID? You may apply for a FREE photo ID at our office any time we are open, including Election Day. We are located at 132 North Royal Street, Suite 100. Our hours are Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm. This ID is valid for voting purposes only. On Election Day we are open from 6am to 7pm.
When you get to our office (1) you will fill out a short application, (2) we will take your picture and get your signature, and (3) you will receive your permanent voter photo identification card in the mail within two weeks. If you need to update your name or address, you may do that at the same time you come in for your ID. If you come to our office within 30 days of an election, we will give you a temporary photo ID which you may use for the current election.

Minutes from the meetings are posted as soon as they are available.
The Electoral Board appoints the Registrar of Voters.
