Mays Conservatory of the Arts Magnet 8th Grader Wins 2016 Best Middle School Film Award

Paolo Cesti, an 8th grader from Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts, has won the 2016 Best Middle School Award at the All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) in New York City for his short film, “Isolation.”

The AAHSFF hosts the world’s largest high school film festival annually in New York. Over 1,850 submissions were received from 48 states and more than 40 countries.

Paolo’s film “Isolation” was screened at the AMC Empire Theaters in NY’s Times Square. The 8 1/2 - minute film tells the story of an artistic boy who is fighting depression while being bullied at school. As a result, he takes his own life.  Paolo, who studies at a Broadcasting Magnet Program, plans to attend college and become a filmmaker.
