Miami-Dade Animal Services honors military veterans with free pet care vaccinations and waived adoption fees for Veterans Day

MIAMI (November 04, 2016)

To commemorate Veterans Day, Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) will honor military veterans residing in Miami-Dade County by offering free pet care packages for their companion cats and dogs as well as waived pet adoption fees from Monday, Nov. 7 through Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.

To be eligible to receive free vaccinations and waived pet adoption fees, veterans must present government issued military identification. Adoption fees will be waived for dogs over 4 months old and for cats and kittens. All pets adopted are spayed or neutered, given age-appropriate routine vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped.

Animal Services’ low-cost vaccine packages for dogs include vaccines against rabies, Bordetella and DHPP—a four in one vaccine offering protection against canine distemper, hepatitis, parvo virus and parainfluenza—as well as a microchip and spay/neuter surgery if needed. The vaccine packages for cats include vaccines against rabies and FRCPC—a four in one vaccine that protects against feline rhinotracheitis, calici, panleukopenia and chlamydia—as well as spay/neuter surgery if needed.

Please note: In observance of Veterans Day, Animal Services will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016.
