Early childhood education is an important tool in making sure Flint kids have the same opportunities as kids around the country. I helped celebrate the opening of the Cummings Great Expectations Early Childhood Learning Center and got to meet some of the Flint kids benefiting from their work!
Glad I could be a part of YWCA of Greater Flint's Circle Luncheon Event with Erin Brockovich. YWCA of Greater Flint provides vital services to women and children in Genesee County and we are lucky to have them in our community.

This week is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. Families in Flint are far too familiar with the harmful effects of lead poisoning in children and adults. We must make sure that Flint has the resources to recover and that cities across Michigan and America never face a similar crisis.
This is the last week to submit your photographs of Michigan's fall leaves! Email them to KildeePhotoContest@mail.house.gov for a chance to have your picture be my Facebook cover photo.

Today's report rightfully states something we've all known for a long time, "government failed the people of Flint and, by extension, all Michiganders." The state appointed emergency financial manager focused on spreadsheets over people. Moving forward, we must prioritize the health and lives of Flint residents and all Michiganders. More than two years later, the people Flint still cannot drink the water from their tap. The state must do more to help the people of Flint recover and ensure they have clean drinking water in their homes again. http://bit.ly/2e7EfNF
Today is the 44th anniversary since the Clean Water Act was signed into law. More than four decades later, we must remain committed to making sure our country’s water is free from toxins, harmful algal blooms and other contaminants. I’ll continue to fight to make sure our precious water resources are protected.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services SAMHSA announced a $972,599 annual grant to Flint for five years. The grant will help people and communities recover from natural or man-made disasters and will help provide Flint residents with increased access to important health services, youth engagement programs and other types of support for themselves and their families! http://bit.ly/2eBubgV
