Boustany: "This administration continues to disrespect Americans with deeply held religious beliefs against abortion."

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after the Obama administration announced on Friday it will not provide broad exceptions to the contraception mandate in its healthcare law:

“This administration continues to disrespect Americans with deeply held religious beliefs against abortion. The Department of Health and Human Services rejected calls to let any employer out of the mandate based on any religious objections to contraception. This is unfortunate for many families and small businesses in South Louisiana. The rights and religious beliefs of our communities are not being respected. I will continue to protect the right to life without compromising our spiritual beliefs we hold sacred.”
