  • Boustany Announces FEMA Funding for Saint Mary Levee District

    (Lafayette, LA) – Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced $25,887,261 in grant funding for the state of Louisiana. Specifically, $3,522,954 will be awarded to the Saint Mary Levee District to provide emergency reinforcement and protection to levees and other infrastructure in the wake of the flooding event that began on December 28, 2015.

  • Boustany Demands EPA Use Sound Science

    (Lafayette, LA) – Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Lafayette) issued the following statement after sending a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy expressing concerns about incorrect data and methodological errors being utilized in a recent risk assessment for the herbicide atrazine. Making a decision based on wrong information not only hurts the credibility of the EPA, but will have a detrimental impact on Louisiana sugarcane, corn, and sorghum farmers.
