Boustany Works to Lower Health Costs, Urges House Democrats to Reject Current House Health Overhaul

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana), today issued the following statement after President Obama called a primetime press conference to push a House Democrat health overhaul measure.

“Health care reform remains critical to getting our economy back on the right track,” Boustany said.  “The President and House Democratic leadership continue to promote a flawed health overhaul bill that will cost patients and taxpayers more, without improving access for Americans to a doctor.  We must make sure the way we go about lowering the costs and increasing access doesn’t make the problem worse.  As a doctor for more than 14 years, I saw firsthand the problems we face, and I know we can fix them.  However, we need to work together to accomplish those results.”
