Boustany Meets with Port of Lake Charles Officials, highlights New Jobs

Lafayette, LA – U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr., (R-Southwest Louisiana), met with Board members of the Port of Lake Charles and toured an expansion of an energy supply service at the port.

“The Port of Lake Charles and the Calcasieu Ship Channel are tremendous assets for our area,” Boustany said. “The energy production which the port helps promote provides quality jobs for Southwest Louisiana and helps to keep jobs here at home.

Boustany toured Dynamic Industries, one of the nation’s leaders in the fabrication of materials used in the oil and gas industry and also services oil and gas facilities like offshore oil rigs. DII recently announced an expansion at The Port of Lake Charles which will include a number of new jobs in the field.

Harry Hank, the President of the Board of Commissioners for the Port of Lake Charles, thanked Congressman Boustany for his commitment to the Port and improvements to the Calcasieu Ship Channel, which the Port services.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Congressmen Boustany for his support and guidance dealing with the very critical funding issue regarding dredging for the Calcasieu Ship Channel,” Hank said. “The Port of Lake Charles is the 11th largest port in the nation and it relies on the Calcasieu Ship Channel. It is a vital and strategic energy lifeline for Southwest Louisiana and more importantly the entire United States.”
