SAY NO TO HORSE SLAUGHTER -- I strongly urge you to ensure that a provision to prohibit federal funding for horse slaughter inspections is included in the 2016 Agriculture Appropriations bill. Please also oppose any other amendments that may arise to legalize and/or promote horse slaughter in the U.S. Further, I request that you co-sponsor the SAFE (Safeguard American Food Exports) Act (HR1942/S1214) to permanently ban horse slaughter in the U.S. and prohibit the export of American horses to Canada and Mexico for slaughter. It's time to end the slaughter of American horses once and for all. Prohibiting the expenditure of tax dollars for inspections of horse slaughterhouses is a critical step toward that goal.  Keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of horse owners and 85% of the US population (some 275 million people) oppose horse slaughter. Please note  --  let us not ignore serious health concerns connected to horsemeat -- we have a serious food safety issue and we must not ignore these dangers. America is not a horse-eating culture and 80% of American voters oppose the horrific practice of horse slaughter ANYWHERE. Ensuring that the 2016 Agriculture Appropriations bill includes defund language will demonstrate Congress' continued commitment to ending the inhumane slaughter of American horses, and will tell American voters that their voices have been heard.

Thanks for mailing us letters about how dem's are wasting money. Ironically at the bottom you've got in bold "THIS MAILING WAS PREPARED, PUBLISHED, AND MAILED AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE." REALLY?!? You need to waste money mailing us about how you're against wasting money?!? Clearly your staff just doesn't understand what it means to be fiscally conservative. I love your youtube clips, but actions speak much louder than words.

I just want to thank Mr Carter for representing me better than any house rep I have ever had. I moved to Texas from Washington State and Rep Carter is clearly one of the consistent lights in the House, especially on his stands against fiscal irresponsibility and holding teh members of Congress accountable.
