Senator Mike Johanns today sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid requesting an analysis of the impact the Senate health care reform bill would have on the long-term health care cost curve. The Congressional Budget Office has been unable to estimate the impact health care bills in either the Senate or the House of Representatives would have on overall long-term medical spending. However, the Office of the Actuary at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) has provided such an assessment of an earlier version of the House bill.
