Washington, D.C. – Congressman Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump) issued the following statement after President Obama released his Fiscal-Year 2015 budget proposal, one month past the statuary deadline:

“Once again President Obama missed a crucial opportunity to show the American people that he’s serious about addressing our national debt and getting our economy back on track to a place where employers can create new, good-paying jobs. Instead, he’s opted for the status quo and doubled-down on taking the easy route. Rather than tackling our nation’s spending crisis head-on, he has chosen to raise taxes onhardworking American families by an additional $1.8 trillion so that Washington can spend even more of their hard-earned money.”

“Right now, America needs a responsible budget. One that constrains Washington's spending with a balanced budget, which will force Washington to live responsibly, like American families all across the country do.”

“Now is the time to do an about-face and walk away from the President’s failed economic policies and enact crucial reforms to the way our government spends taxpayer money, and to invest in real solutions that expand opportunity for all Americans.”

Facts about the President’s proposed budget:

  • It calls for $1.8 trillion in new taxes — though the President has already raised taxes by $1.7 trillion during his time in office.
  • His budget increases spending by $791 billion over the budget window — and by $56 billion above the Bipartisan Budget Act levels in 2015 alone.
  • It adds $8.3 trillion to the national debt over the budget window.
  • The budget never balances.
