End of payments to Brazilians will put American cotton in the spotlight

WASHINGTON — The decision to suspend the $147 million annual payment the United States makes to Brazilian cotton farmers in settlement of a trade dispute puts the subsidies paid to the Memphis-centered cotton industry back on center stage.
