It has been 750 days since Senate Democrats last passed a budget. Senate Republicans are calling on them to do their jobs and produce a plan that gets our fiscal house in order to get the economy back on track and put people back to work.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL): “It’s Been 750 Days Since The Senate Dems Last Passed A Budget. “Two senior Republican senators on Thursday noted that the Senate had not passed a full year’s budget for 750 days and suggested Democrats are incapable of producing a plan that works.”I think they are paralyzed, actually, by putting a plan on paper,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee. “They are not able to produce a budget that their caucus supports, that the American people would support that would get a job done. Sen. Orin Hatch (R-UT): “Senate Democrats Abdicating Their Fiscal Responsibility To The Nation.” In the colloquy on the Senate floor with Sessions, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, suggested Senate Democrats were abdicating their fiscal responsibility to the nation. “The American people overwhelming expect the Senate to do the nation’s business and the first order of business is to get our financial house in order,” said Hatch. “For the majority party to skip work on the nation’s budget is not something to be taken lightly.” (Josiah Ryan, “Senate GOP: Dems ‘Paralyzed’ In Budget Process,” The Hill, 5/19/11)

Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad now says he may not even offer a budget this year. Senate Democrats continue to refuse to put in place real solutions to stop the overspending and begin reducing our national debt.

Sen. Conrad May Not Offer A Budget This Year. “Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), Senate Budget Committee chairman, has yet to release a budget resolution this year, and there is talk that, due to disputes over taxes, he might not move one at all.” (Bernie Becker, “Republicans: Where’s The Democratic Budget?” The Hill, 5/19/11)
