Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential recess appointments:

“For years, President Obama has inappropriately interpreted and selectively applied the law. He picks and chooses what parts of the Constitution and duly passed legislation he wants to enforce or follow. Today, the Supreme Court struck down three of the President’s recess appointments ruling that Congress, not the President, gets to decide when Congress is in recess. The President’s attempt at illegitimate administrative appointments is a prime example of overreach. This bolsters the case for the House to take further action to ensure our laws are properly executed and our freedoms are protected.”
